An apt title if I’ve ever seen one! Tommy is a total bulldozer who is completely enamored with, and therefore has a soft spot for, Tia.
Tommy is in line to don the crown of his father’s criminal empire. When an opportunity presents itself to collect on a debt and gift Tommy a wife, while, unbeknownst to everyone else, enact revenge for an age-old slight, Tommy’s dad demands Tia be taken as payment. She is young and naïve enough to not wholly grasp the consequences of her father’s debt. With that comes a roller coaster of emotions: anger, sadness, sassiness, and a fierce determination to find a way out of her new situation. So when an opportunity presents itself, Tia can’t help but seize it. Before she knows it, all hell breaks loose and changes the dynamic.
Tommy is a bit of a wild card, a Jekyll and Hyde type with his moods turning on a dime. Despite his alphahole tendencies, it would seem that he secretly seeks acceptance from his new queen, however.
As such, Tia’s determination begins to waver as Tommy uses her body against her. Although not completely trusting of Sarah, Tommy’s longtime housekeeper, she begins seeing snippets of Tommy’s story and his true nature through her eyes. This combination breaks down her walls bit by bit while Tommy also comes to the realization that he doesn’t want Tia broken, a shell of the feisty woman he fell in love with. And make no mistake, Tommy loves her fiercely.
The pace was a bit slow for me despite the action and some of the scenes made me wince. That said, I’m a sucker for a bulldozer and Tommy is a King among men.
