Review: Captured

Captured Captured by Lauren Biel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Still living with her drunkard father, Ophelia works at the diner in her backwoods town in order to put food on the table and squirrel away a few dollars here and there. The diner is also her escape, her safe space. That is until the Bruggar brothers “forget” to pay their bill before leaving.

When she wakes up chained in a filthy basement with a foul man wanting to do even more vile things to her, her only saving grace may be her captor with a hint of soul still left in his eyes.

“I forged my own way, even if it was still a sin-laced path.”

Despite the unconventional relationship, Ophelia and Alex have a deep understanding of one another, the type that can only be forged through reflected trauma.

Captured is a twisted and triggery dark romance that will leave you all kinds of fçuked up. I wouldn’t label it as pitch black, on my scale, but it toes some lines. Readers with any concerns or hesitation should heed the TW which can be found at the beginning of the book.
